New video
When I started developing this game I thought I had the story and the setting figured out.
Fast forward two years and the games world has taken a life of its own altogether.
As I add more and more of my ideas into the project, the ideas that I had not fully fleshed begin to robust naturally as a result.
It's exciting to look over the canon material of Warden and see the many layers of worldbuilding stacked atop one another.
With this video I've released, I wanted to give a glimpse into the world that I'm crafting but I didn't want to over hype the game.
While I could have produced the video as an epic trailer for the game I wanted to provide a more honest look at the gameplay as it is; a more honest view of the games current status.
At this time there are quite a few areas remaining to be developed and a few of the most recent maps are still awaiting their last few details.
The games world was planned out ahead of time however it's come to my realization that there are a lot of areas remaining to be drawn out.
My workflow for creating maps has not changed much, with the tile cutting process still a manual process for me as it is for many. I don't have any special tricks although I did spend some time writing the code towards a tile cutting plugin. It is still a work in progress.

What is Warden?
A side scroller action adventure game that aims to pay homage to the classic side scrollers of our yesteryears.
My aim was to merge the gameplay of Megaman, Wonderboy, The Adventure of Link, Symphony of the Night, Metroid, and so many others.
Is it a souls-like? Is it like Hollowknight? Somewhat, but it doesn't aim to mimic any particular game. This is all my own sort of approach to this type of game and I'm enjoying the learning process as well as discovering the look, voice and feel of Warden as it's developed.
At this time, with as much as there is in the game, it's taken a definitive shape and has a distinct theme all its own.
As its developed further, the game is promising to provide a massive array of options for the player to approach during their time in the veil.
It's been a pleasure seeing this coming together, but of course there's still a whole lot to do.
Steady as she goes. If you like the video, sound off in the comments.
Thanks for visiting!
